Keeping with Our Theme

You may have noticed some changes in
our award-winning inflight magazine SPIRIT OF ALOHA. Over
the past several issues, we’ve given the magazine a
more dynamic look, from the cover art to the display of articles
and photography. We’ve also sought writers who go beyond
describing what they see to involve readers in the realm of
emotions.
Another innovation has been to explore a single focus or theme
every issue. We began the year with Places We Love and followed
that with Adventure Is Where You Find It. Our Food Issue was
a big hit and, more recently, we published our Romance of
Pacific Travel issue. The theme of this issue is Body and
Soul. This gives our writers a chance to explore what it takes
to keep body and soul together, whether it’s primping
and pampering, wandering about appreciating nature or just
taking it easy, making the most of every day.
We like to think that Aloha Airlines also plays a role in
helping you maintain a healthy, happy disposition by providing
air transportation with as little hassle as possible. At Aloha
Airlines, we like to say we’re not like the other guys.
We’ve said this about our well-chosen West Coast gateways,
which are convenient and user-friendly, unlike highly congested
LAX and SFO. We’ve also said it about our award-winning
inflight service, emphasizing the high quality of the meals
we serve on trans-Pacific flights.
Our frequent-flyer program, AlohaPass, is another thing that
sets us apart from other airlines. Begun in May 1983, the
AlohaPass program was Hawai‘i’s first homegrown
frequent-flyer program. Over the years, membership has grown
to more than half-a-million smart consumers in the Islands
alone.
AlohaPass has some unbeatable features. For starters, joining
AlohaPass is free. And it’s easy. Just go to our Web
site www.AlohaAirlines.com to sign up. As a benefit of membership,
you will qualify straightaway for special interisland fares,
and by registering your e-mail address, you’ll be hearing
from us from time to time, with special members-only offers
on trans-Pacific fares.
Another advantage of Aloha’s program is that our miles
never expire. Also, up to four family members can sign up
for an ‘Ohana Plan and pool their miles for redemptions.
Then there’s the United MileagePlus program component.
Since Jan. 1, 1984, Aloha and United have been frequent-flyer
program partners. This unique partnership enables travelers
who fly on Aloha to choose to earn AlohaPass mileage or UnitedMileage
Plus miles. Though our shortest flight (Honolulu to Lïhu‘e,
Kaua‘i) is only 62 miles, the minimum number of AlohaPass
miles you earn on an interisland flight is 500.
Earlier this year, we revamped the AlohaPass program for the
first time in many years to give greater benefits to our most
frequent flyers. Under a new three-tier system called the
Ali‘i Loyalty Program, frequent flyers are entitled
to preboarding privileges and a range of benefits, including
bonus mileage so they can claim travel awards faster. Ali‘i
Silver members earn 25 percent bonus miles every time they
fly on a revenue ticket, while Ali‘i Gold members earn
50 percent bonus miles and Ali‘i Diamond members get
a 100 percent bonus toward free travel and other great awards.
Ali‘i Gold and Ali‘i Diamond members also enjoy
free access to the Ali‘i Club airport lounges. By the
way, the word ali‘i means chief or noble, and it reminds
us that you deserve special attention.
Aloha is fortunate to have as our partner First Hawaiian Bank,
founded in Honolulu in 1858. Since June 2003, the bank has
been issuing MasterCard and VISA cards as part of the Aloha
AirAwards Program, Hawai‘i’s first co-branded
credit card. Unlike most cards, which give cardholders one
mile for every dollar spent, these cards earn one-and-a-half
AlohaPass miles for every dollar of every purchase charged.
Our customers who live on the Mainland are beginning to discover
the benefits of holding an Aloha AirAwards Card. For information
about the Aloha AirAwards Card, visit our Web site or contact
First Hawaiian Bank at 643-CARD.
At Aloha, were offering members new and exciting ways to
redeem their miles, beginning with free trips on Aloha and
United, hotel stays, rental cars, even fine dining with a
host of partners. We also offer redemptions for activities
and entertainment, including golf and visitor attractions.
Thank you for flying Aloha.
